Opera 9.6 has been released this week with a wealth of new updates.

The browser now offers faster page-loading times, a low-bandwidth email mode and better synchronisation of notes, browser history, bookmarks and search engines via Opera Link.

In addition, Opera Mail features a prioritisation feature that enables users to navigate their inbox by following important threads and ignoring less crucial ones.

Users can also preview RSS feeds in their browser and support has been added for six extra languages: Indonesian, Ukrainian, Estonian, Hindi, Telugu and Tamil.

"Our improved email client is now the ideal communication tool," said Jon von Tetzchner, chief executive of Opera Software.

"Opera Link gives you more flexibility to take your personal browsing identity with you to any computer."

According to Net Applications figures, Opera has a 0.69 per cent share of the overall browser market, just behind Google Chrome's 0.78 per cent.

The top three browsers are Internet Explorer (71.52 per cent), Firefox (19.46 per cent) and Safari (6.65 per cent).ADNFCR-1093-ID-18819720-ADNFCR
