Google's video-sharing site YouTube has launched a new scheme to allow users to buy media products related to the clips that they watch.
'Click to buy' links will be added to video watch pages belonging to partners for products such as music and games from a range of retailers, including Amazon and iTunes.
Links can also be enabled for relevant user-generated content through YouTube's content identification and management system, according to a post on the Official Google Blog.
Although the links will only be available for US partners at the moment, international capabilities are expected to be launched in the future.
Glenn Brown and Thai Tran of YouTube said: "Our vision is to help partners across all industries - from music, to film, to print, to TV - offer useful and relevant products to a large, yet targeted audience and generate additional revenue from their content on YouTube beyond the advertising we serve against their videos."
Google is also launching AdSense for Games, which allows ads to be placed within online games.
