British web users watched a collective 3.2 billion online videos during June, according to new comScore figures.

Over 27.4 million people watched 117.7 clips each on average, the research company said, with Google-owned sites - particularly YouTube - proving to be the most popular, claiming almost half of all the videos watched.

The BBC site came second in terms of the highest number of videos watched, followed by Microsoft, Fox Interactive Media and ITV sites.

"According to comScore M: Metrics, 4.2 million mobile phone subscribers used their phone to watch any kind of TV or video in the UK, of which 37.6 per cent were younger than 25 years old," comScore went on to note.

This follows a recent forecast revision by eMarketer, which indicated that US spending on video advertising is expected to rise at a slower pace than previously predicted this year.ADNFCR-1093-ID-18782112-ADNFCR
