A growing number of British mobile users are utilising their handsets to conduct online searches, comScore has revealed.
About 9.5 per cent of UK mobile owners undertook an online search in June, compared with 9.2 per cent of US subscribers and six per cent in Italy, the research firm said.
Furthermore, mobile users are increasingly accessing online search through their phones on a regular basis, with comScore analyst Alistair Hill reporting that the number of Europeans doing so once a week has risen by 50 per cent year-on-year.
"It is interesting to note that as we see the number of mobile search users increase, the frequency of activity is also growing," he added.
The report also showed that Google is the most popular mobile search engine for users in both the US and Europe, with Yahoo! placing second in most of the nations surveyed.
Another recent comScore study indicated that US adoption of mobile 3G services is catching up to that in western Europe.
