Sir Tim Berners-Lee has launched a new foundation aimed at allowing all people to make better use of the internet.

The inventor's World Wide Web Foundation will bring together a number of different communities and organisations to conduct and fund research and development relating to web communications, e-commerce and knowledge sharing.

One of the first goals of the foundation is to help those communities that are currently unable to benefit fully from the internet.

Sir Tim commented: "Through this new initiative, we hope to develop an international ecosystem that will help shape the future web. A more inclusive web will benefit us all."

Ahead of the launch, Sir Tim told the BBC that he believed a website labelling system could dispel the problem of people using the web to spread misinformation, one of the issues to be addressed by the World Wide Web Foundation.ADNFCR-1093-ID-18779826-ADNFCR
