The market for mobile content management systems (CMS) is set to see significant change in the next five years.

This is according to a new report from Insight Research Corporation, which forecast that spending on such systems by publishers, broadcasters and telecoms carriers, among others, will rise to $8 billion (£4.4 billion) by the end of 2008.

It also predicted that the market will see a marked shift from systems build for a specific device towards those that enable the publishing of reusable content across a wide range of channels.

"When content becomes reusable across multiple delivery channels its value increases enormously, which will foster investment in developing the next generation of content management tools," said president of Insight Research Robert Rosenberg.

The mobile web is becoming increasingly popular among users in Europe - a recent report from Nielsen Mobile suggested that those accessing the internet from their handsets most favour email and search websites.ADNFCR-1093-ID-18758086-ADNFCR
