Google's deal with Mozilla to be set as the default search engine in Firefox has been extended for a second time.

The agreement was originally contracted to run until 2006 but was extended to November 2008. This has now been renewed again to continue until November 2011, according to a post on Mozilla chairperson Mitchell Baker's blog.

He explained that the new deal will continue to offer Mozilla "stability in income". According to TechCrunch, the agreement was worth about 85 per cent of the company's income in 2006.

"We're very, very happy about our relationship with Google and this makes sure that Mozilla will be sustainable and thrive for quite a long time to come," said John Lilly, chief executive of Mozilla.

Earlier this week, Mozilla Labs announced the development of a new tool, Ubiquity, that allows users to create their own mashups without needing any prior web coding skills.ADNFCR-1093-ID-18755710-ADNFCR
