Web 2.0 marketing 'on the rise for SMBs'
Web 2.0
22 August 2008
Small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) are increasingly looking to Web 2.0 as part of their marketing campaigns, a new study has suggested.
Two-fifths of those responding to a survey by The Kelsey Group and ConStat said they were going to consider adding consumer reviews to their websites over the next year.
Three in ten of respondents indicated an interest in harnessing social media for marketing purposes, while 26 per cent did so for online video.
In addition, the majority of SMBs intend to either maintain or increase their spending on advertising over the next 12 months, the survey revealed.
Stephen Marshall, director of research and consulting at The Kelsey Group, said: "The data reveal[s] a remarkable resilience of the SMB advertising segment in the face of economic pressures on local consumers and businesses."
The current economic downturn in the UK is leading some price comparison websites to look into spending more on their online advertising campaigns, according to a recent New Media Age report.
