'Boost online marketing efforts with blogs'

Blogs can do much to enhance a company's image online, an expert has said.

According to course leader for the MSc in digital marketing communications at Manchester Metropolitan University David Bird, online journals can help businesses to interact more fully with customers and show the extent of their industry expertise.

He told Crain's Manchester Business that blogs are not a one-way channel of communication - rather, the focus is on receiving questions and feedback from customers and responding to them.

Mr Bird added: "The best blogs are the ones that allow unmoderated comment. It exposes the business but you can't afford not to do it."

Blogs represent one of the most effective forms of internet marketing a business can deploy, according to comments made by blogger and entrepreneur Oli Barrett to the Telegraph earlier this month.
