Study uncovers e-commerce website trends

A new report has outlined some of the key trends appearing in the online retail sector.
Released by RSR Research, the publication suggested that a growing number of retailers are focusing on reviewing basic site elements such as product information rather than refining the user experience.
This is because retailers are waiting for feedback from customers on the website features they most want to see, the report showed.
RSR Research partner Steve Rowen said this trend was surprising "given that e-commerce is starting to have a better reputation for customer service than stores".
However, an increasing number of retail organisations are looking to the mobile and Web 2.0 platforms - albeit tentatively - and those focusing exclusively on the online channel are showing themselves to be "at the forefront of innovation", he added.
Meanwhile, Hitwise recently released research indicating that high street retailers are beginning to see significantly higher web traffic levels than those operating only on the web.
