Facebook accounted for 45.29 per cent of the social networking market in the UK last month, according to new figures.
Research findings released by Hitwise this week show that the website managed to significantly increase its share from 15.75 per cent in June last year.
Bebo and MySpace, which came second and third in the rankings respectively last month, both saw their share of the market drop.
Meanwhile, the wider Web 2.0 category saw Facebook take the lead again, followed by YouTube, Bebo, Wikipedia and MySpace.
Commenting on the findings, Hitwise UK research director Robin Goad said: "Combined, these five sites now account for one in every 15 UK internet visits."
Facebook recently unveiled a redesign project that will see the site focus more on making better use of the Wall and feeds elements, as well as integrate a less cluttered visual appearance.
The revamp follows a similar move by MySpace to overhaul its homepage and improve its search and profile editing facilities, among other features.
