An effective way of boosting search engine optimisation (SEO) may be to concentrate on improving website usability, it has been suggested.

Looking at factors such as relevant content and good internal linking policies could do much to boost search engine rankings as a result, expert Mark Jackson recently wrote in a blog post for Search Engine Watch.

Usability is an issue that businesses cannot afford to ignore, according to usability guru Jakob Nielsen, who told the BBC recently that internet users are becoming increasingly impatient with sites that do not offer up relevant information instantaneously.

Mr Jackson recommended that businesses focus solely on the user experience when refining their websites, as any flaws could lead to a loss of business.

"Accessibility is very much aligned with usability. If your website isn't accessible through Safari on a Mac, you're missing an opportunity and creating a bad user experience for someone," he explained. ADNFCR-1093-ID-18695687-ADNFCR
