Google continues web domination in US

Categories: Internet Marketing

22 July 2008

Google attracted the greatest number of unique US visitors over the course of June, a new report has showed.

According to comScore, the search engine's site saw 140.16 million unique visits last month, slightly ahead of Yahoo!'s figure of 140.08 million.

However, the overall amount of time spent online by American internet users experienced a drop during the month. Despite this, web users flocked to leisure websites in their droves, making the category the most popular of the month.

"Americans have begun to enjoy their summer vacations and appear to be spending less time online and more time basking in the sun," said comScore's Jack Flanagan.

"And when they are online, they spend more time engaged in leisure-related activities."

Google is also continuing its domination of the US search market, with recent reports from comScore, Nielsen Online and Hitwise recently releasing statistics showing Google dominated the sector in terms of search volume during June.ADNFCR-1093-ID-18695682-ADNFCR
