Google accounted for 61.5 per cent of all online queries made by US web users last month, it has been revealed.

According to new figures from research firm comScore, the search engine giant saw its share of the market drop slightly compared with May - but it continued to lead the way in terms of the highest number of searches made.

Meanwhile, Yahoo! and Microsoft both increased their search numbers, with a total of 11.5 billion searches being made across all core search engines by US internet users over the course of June.

When the results were analysed in more detail, comScore also discovered that Facebook saw a 30 per cent increase in its search volumes, while Fox Interactive Media's non-MySpace web properties experienced a 29 per cent rise in queries.

Earlier this month, comScore released figures suggesting that iPhone owners are the most likely to make regular use of the mobile web compared with other smartphone users.ADNFCR-1093-ID-18693930-ADNFCR
