Facebook aims to improve website usability

Web 2.0

Facebook has made an attempt at improving the usability of its website by launching a new design.

The new site features a simpler look, extensive use of a tab navigation system, more control over privacy settings, greater use of the feeds and Wall elements, and a better fit for third party applications on user profiles.

Users of the new site - which is currently being tested by a small number of users ahead of a full-scale rollout later this month - will also be able to access their photos, videos and notes applications in a single Publisher feature.

"We've made the changes rolling out today in order to highlight the most recent and relevant information that users value, give users even more control and ownership over their profiles and simplify the user experience," said Facebook founder and chief executive Mark Zuckerberg.

MySpace also relaunched its site last month, incorporating a new visual design for its homepage and an improved search facility, among other changes.ADNFCR-1093-ID-18693925-ADNFCR
