Most UK searches conducted on Google in June

Google sites were responsible for 87 per cent of all searches carried out in the UK in June, according to Hitwise figures.

The statistics also show that Yahoo! took four per cent of the market, while MSN accounted for 3.72 per cent.

Meanwhile, Google also grabbed almost 70 per cent of the US search market and 87.7 per cent of searches in Australia.

Google expanded its UK market share by ten per cent during June 2008 compared with June 2007, Hitwise noted.

The report also went on to highlight the fact that many web users still go to search engines first when searching for sector-specific sites, such as medical/health sites and travel portals.

Elsewhere, new comScore figures have shown that Google increased its share of the French search market from 80.5 per cent to 82 per cent during the month of May.ADNFCR-1093-ID-18687932-ADNFCR
