The Hearst Digital-owned Cosmopolitan.co.uk website experienced a 136 per cent surge in traffic over the course of May, new figures have revealed.
Citing Nedstats research, Journalism.co.uk said that the site had managed to more than double its unique visitor numbers during the month following a relaunch.
Managing director of Hearst Digital Alex Ballantyne told Journalism.co.uk that the rise could be attributed to a number of factors.
Firstly, the site is based on a new platform that makes extensive use of search engine optimisation (SEO), he said, adding that improved searching tagging by Cosmopolitan.co.uk's editors, along with better cross-promotion between various facets of the business, helped to boost traffic considerably.
"We're well ahead of the curve with Cosmo; it has been a fantastic response from the market," Mr Ballantyne remarked.
According to Justin James of TechRepublic, it is a good idea to integrate SEO from the very beginning of a web design project.
