Good web design 'incorporates SEO'

Search engine optimisation (SEO) should be considered from the beginning of a web design project in order for the site to be successful, it has been claimed.
According to TechRepublic's Justin James, companies tend to ignore aspects such as SEO, usability and accessibility, often assuming that they will develop naturally or leaving them until the very end of the design process.
However, integrating these elements into website design from the start can be a smart move, Mr James said. Getting real web users to test the site for usability and accessibility is a good idea, while it might be best for some firms to obtain outside help on SEO, he advised.
"If you want to leverage your website as much as possible and minimise the amount you need to spend on paid ads, you might want to bring in an outside expert," Mr James explained.
Web designers making use of Flash might be able to boost SEO more easily following recent news that Adobe is working with Google and Yahoo! to make Flash content more searchable.
