Google and Yahoo! are working to improve their search indexing procedures for Flash content.
Adobe announced today (July 1st) that its partnership with the search engines will help to make Flash applications and pages easier to find for web users.
About 98 per cent of computers have the Flash Player installed and it is hoped that this initiative will significantly increase the visibility of Flash websites and rich internet applications across the web.
Yahoo! will incorporate changes to its search service shortly, with Google already making use of Flash player technology to improve its algorithm, which is already capable of scanning Flash menus, buttons, banners and pages for searchable text.
"We are initially working with Google and Yahoo! to significantly improve search of this rich content on the web and we intend to broaden the availability of this capability to benefit all content publishers, developers and end users," said Adobe's David Wadhwani.
Adobe recently launched the latest version of its Acrobat software, which creates and reads PDF files. The program now features native support for Flash.
