Video-sharing hotspot YouTube could be set to focus on making money from longer clips, it has been claimed.
According to Fortune magazine, the website has seen an increasing number of longer-length videos posted for viewers to watch, such as one clip entitled Harold Buttelman, Daredevil Stuntman, which is more than an hour and a half long.
With Google chief executive Eric Schmidt recently admitting to the New Yorker that the company has been struggling to find a clear way of maximising revenue from YouTube, the firm may be eyeing potential extra income from longer clips.
"[Longer videos] would enable YouTube to offer more ads per view," Envisioneering Group director Richard Doherty told Fortune.
Meanwhile, recent comScore statistics suggest that some four billion clips were watched on YouTube in the US alone during April, with 11 billion videos being viewed across the web during the month.
