Google's dominance in the traditional search market has extended to the mobile domain, it has emerged.

Some 61 per cent of mobile web searches were made using Google during the first three months of 2008, with Yahoo! in second place with 18 per cent and MSN in third with five per cent, Nielsen Mobile's report indicated.

Most of the users of Google and Yahoo!'s services were found to be male, while 44 per cent of those using Google gave a rating of at least eight out of ten when asked how satisfied they were with mobile search. This is compared with 40 per cent for Yahoo!, Nielsen Mobile noted.

The top three mobile internet search categories for the first quarter were information, local listings and websites/navigation for Google, with the latter two categories switching places for Yahoo! users.

Last week, Google announced on its Mobile Blog that it has changed its mobile homepage to make the website load quicker on handheld devices.ADNFCR-1093-ID-18640938-ADNFCR
