Yahoo!, it's over

The on-going discussions between Microsoft and Yahoo! have ended.
Yahoo! has announced that talks "regarding a potential transaction -whether for an acquisition of all of Yahoo! or a partial acquisition - have concluded".
The declaration follows months of wrangling, during which Yahoo! rejected offers from Bill Gates' computing firm and fought challenges to its board.
Microsoft had moved from proposing to buy all of the internet company to only offering for its search marketing side.
Yahoo!'s board of directors agreed against this, saying it would "not be consistent with the company's view of the converging search and display marketplaces".
The decision, they said, would leave it without an independent search business, which it views as critical to its strategic future and would not be in the best interests of its stockholders.
Yahoo!'s future could be decided at its forthcoming annual meeting, when its new board will be finalised.
