Social networking site, Facebook, has hosted its first live music 'tour'.

The site has streamed five nights of live performances by unsigned UK band, RedBoxBlue.

The musicians began their gigs on Wednesday and used Kyte TV webcasting to broadcast their concerts.

Facebook rival, MySpace, has so far been most popular with bands previewing their music online.

The band has a presence on both sites and is an example of how youth culture has embraced social networking.

The UK has the highest membership of these sites in Europe and it is forecast to almost triple by 2012 to 27 million, according to analysts, Datamonitor.

"While the trend is driven by the younger age groups, many older generations are also being drawn to social media," it revealed.
