Retailer Woolworths has redesigned its online download store and withdrawn from selling CDs in shops.
Its new internet venture replaces an earlier site, which was limited to selling only music.
"Digital downloading is now the true customer choice for listening and purchasing single music tracks," Jim Batchelor, commercial director said.
"CDs are alive and well for album sales, but unfortunately the physical singles market is in terminal decline."
Woolworthsdownload.com features games, videos and mobile downloads. During its first week from launch, top ten tracks will be available for only 59 pence.
The company has said it will make available every major music release from a catalogue of more than 1.2 million tracks.
Mr Batchelor said the firm had opened its new site as "customers are now starting to embrace the world of downloading".
The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry has claimed the spread of unlicensed music on the internet is reducing revenue for record companies and artists.
