Google's dominance is worrying UK's web entrepreneurs, new research has revealed.
When polled at the Founders Forum, by YouGov, big name internet personalities registered their concerns - 44 per cent said the search engine was the biggest threat to their online growth, the Telegraph has reported.
The poll revealed a majority believe social networking sites present their businesses with opportunities and only six per cent consider the lack of bandwidth a factor to hamper their firm's growth.
As the most popular search engine, Google regularly comes under scrutiny. Its recent purchase of ad provider, DoubleClick, was investigated by legislators across the world.
Announcing its move with Google into mobile display ads, Ari Paparo, group product manager, explained it would "provide mobile advertisers with more options, ultimately leading to better monetisation for publishers".
Their earlier merger was only agreed after a long period of deliberation by the European Union, which assessed the deal to ensure it was not anti-competitive.
Content analyst, Attributor, has claimed the pair has more than 69 per cent of the ad-server market share.
