Information Technology is expected to help firms succeed through the current period of financial instability, a new poll has revealed.
According to annual research of more than 360 chief information officers conducted by recruitment consultant, Harvey Nash, the majority felt IT was expected to deliver competitive advantage, onrec has reported.
It found innovation collaboration is key to keeping the edge over competitors. Bryan MacDonald, director of chief information officer practice, observed it is happening "more and more frequently and the more IT leaders collaborate, the better the results.
The survey, conducted with PA Consulting, found 76 per cent of respondents said their company's board believed relying on technology will improve efficiency and 65 per cent reported innovation achieved cost reductions.
Mr MacDonald added: "With greater results on tighter budgets, we expect the IT function to be rewarded with the strategic influence they desire.
