Video search company, blinkx, has decided to sell parts of its categorisation and optimisation software.

Packaged as the advanced media platform (AMP), the firm hopes to help others organise their increasingly large video clip collections.

Suranga Chandratillake, chief executive officer and founder, said: "We've taken a lot of the technology we've built for video search, turned it into components and launched it as a platform."

Publishers Kiplinger, WallSt.net and Portfolio.com have bought into the package, which matches search with files and text and can optimise video content for popular search engines.

"We've enhanced the value we can derive from our video assets and we expect to significantly enhance both our brand and our users’ experience online," added Mr Chandratillake.

However, the package does nothing to reassure users their internet connection speeds will remain high.

Huge amounts of video data are choking the internet and analysts have warned the web is headed for 'gridlock'.
