US computer manufacturer, Apple, has reported record second quarter results.
It sold 2.2 million computers, 10.6 million iPods, 1.7 million iPhones and returned 43 per cent revenue growth, the most in its history.
Its chief executive officer, Steve Jobs said: "With over $17 billion (£8.6 billion) in revenue for the first half of our fiscal year, we have strong momentum to launch some terrific new products in the coming quarters."
Its most recent offering is the MacBook Air laptop, which does away with a CD drive to help reduce size.
Microsoft's chief executive officer, Steve Ballmer recently joked: "That thing is heavier than the Toshiba I carry."
The firm, based in California, has expanded since the popularity of its iPod and developed into a better-known brand.
Despite this, the computer market is still dominated by Microsoft, whose operating systems feature on most home computers and laptops.
