New online IT jobs have fallen and fewer vacancies are available for part and full-time positions, Contractor UK has claimed.
It cited figures from online recruiter, Monster.com, which showed UK IT hiring fell eight per cent last month, when compared to February.
Hugo Sellert, head of economic research at Monster, said regionally the decline was "broad–based", although figures obtained by contractor UK showed the drop was most prominent in London.
"The banking crisis is clearly taking its toll as the financial sector as well as IT & computing are among the sectors where demand for both permanent and temporary staff is weakest," noted Alan Nolan, director at KPMG.
Its recent Report on Jobs study conducted with the Recruitment and Employment Confederation, revealed employers are becoming increasingly cautious and demand for staff is slowing.
