Publisher, Harper Collins will launch Lola's Land, a new interactive world for girls.
The social site is based around its popular fiction character, Lola Love, and is designed to increase teen readers' popularity with the brand.
Katie Fulford, special projects director, said: "Lola Love has proved herself to be a great role model for tween girls through our publishing programme."
In contrast to the controversial Bimbo.com site, it will encourage girls to think positively about themselves and its editorial director will be a qualified personal, social and health practitioner.
As with other virtual worlds, the site will let users represent themselves through avatars and make friends within its community.
It claims to be the only site aimed at this audience, which combines editorial content, games, safe social networking "all with Lola's underlying message of having fun and feeling good about yourself", Ms Fulford added.
