Online shoppers expect offline standards

Internet shoppers want offline standards when they come to buy online.
Paul Nadin from comparison site, reviewcentre.com told Retail Bulletin simple errors in website design can lead users to be frustrated and step back from making purchases.
He said: "Shoppers want a fast, easy shopping experience and e-retailers need to address issues which are stopping shoppers buying."
He noted some sites wanted too much personal information, others failed to display images of products and some had restrictive payment methods.
Mr Nadin believes shoppers now expect high street standards and suggested e-retailers "address issues which are stopping shoppers buying".
"Retail online still tends to be dominated by the pure online players," noted Nielsen Online's internet analyst, Alex Burmaster.
"However, the high street brands have really come on leaps and bounds over the last year and have far outperformed their pure online competitors in terms of growth."
