Consumers 'demand more' from broadband

Consumers demand more from broadband when adverts tell them to expect faster speeds, an industry commentator has claimed.
Michael Phillips, product director of Broadband Choices.co.uk, explained the demand was partly due to cultural changes, which have led to an 'everything now' attitude.
"As soon as we get used to the benefits of something we just want far more from it than was probably ever initially envisaged," he said.
Internet service providers have been criticised for promising connection speeds, which were later found to be un-obtainable.
A recent customer satisfaction survey by uSwitch found more than eight million broadband customers are not sure their provider has them on the best deal.
Many suppliers claim to provide services "up to" a set speed, however this has left some consumers with slower connections than advertised.
BT's has promised its new 21CN network will offer connections up to 24mbps, although this will also vary from user to user.
