Yahoo! launches ladies' site

Yahoo! has launched Shine, a website just for women.
It features syndicated content from Conde Nast and Hearst Corp publications and its current leader is The 100 Unsexiest Men 2008.
Amy Iorio, vice president for Yahoo! Lifestyles, said it was designed for women who acted as "caretakers for everybody in their lives".
"They didn't feel like there was a place that was looking at the whole them - as a parent, as a spouse, as a daughter. They were looking for one place that gave them everything."
Shine offers content in parenting, sex and love, healthy living, food, career and money and is planned to swallow the company's food site.
It differs from its competitors as it appears in blog format, with newest additions at the top of its pages.
Ms Iorio explained that the company's internal research found women were looking for one site where they can aggregate various content and communications tools.
An article on WritersWeekly.com has claimed that online retailer, Amazon, has banned the sale of self-published books not made using its printing company, BookSurge.
