Teens now read online
Web 2.0

One in four teenagers does their reading online, a new study has revealed.
The report, entitled Read Up, Fed Up, showed that young people are increasingly using the internet to find material and are not always supported by their parents.
"The explosion of digital media, and how we use it, means that today's young people are exposed to a wider variety of reading material than any previous generation," said Honor Fletcher-Wilson, director of the National Year of Reading.
"Despite this, it seems adults are not yet embracing this shift and are not encouraging teens to take advantage of this new landscape."
It revealed that BBC Online was their tenth favourite source of reading and third favourite, after Heat and Bliss magazines, was looking at song lyrics online.
Unsurprisingly, they rated reading homework as the least enjoyable, along with reading Shakespeare and books over 100 pages in length.
