Poor web design hampers recruitment

Poorly designed websites are leading several high-street retailers to miss hiring talented employees, new research has found.

A study commissioned by recruitment consultant, Hire Strategies revealed that only 40 per cent of retail recruitment sites were found to be good enough to attract applicants.

Managing director Peter Gold likened using the sites to visiting a shopping centre and "being unable to find your favourite store on the map, and finding that the people you ask for directions can't explain how to get there".

The study revealed that some of the high street's top names had sites, which were so poor less than two per cent of visitors bothered to fill out application forms.

Current labour market statistics have showed the UK now has less people unemployed, more people in work and extra vacancies for those looking for jobs.
