Facebook has faced a further security threat, which has let visitors view personal pictures, the Associated Press has reported.

A Canadian computer technician, Byron NG, alerted the news provider after looking into the site's security features and exposing the weakness.

"We take privacy very seriously and continue to make enhancements to the site," said Facebook spokeswoman Brandee Barker, after she was notified of the fault.

Byron NG had exploited a weakness on the site to access pictures of Paris Hilton at the Emmy awards and her brother, Barron Nicholas Hilton.

A reporter from the Associated Press also found it possible to look up photos that should have been restricted by the site's privacy controls.

Employers are still divided on the use of social networking sites. Research by Global Secure Systems (GSS) and Infosecurity Europe 2008 has shown business managers can be against social networking sites, while human resources teams give them praise.
