Thinking Digital, a conference of the world's biggest digital brains will investigate the future of digital media, the Journal has reported.

Its speakers will feature an eclectic mix of industry heavyweights, creative thinkers and digital boffins. They include Greg Dyke, former BBC top man, Ray Kurzweil an acclaimed futurist and Dan Lyons, the senior editor of Forbes magazine.

"We have created the Thinking Digital conference to bring together some of the world’s brightest, most accomplished and innovative minds as speakers, sponsors and delegates across a wide variety of disciplines, industries and functions," said programme director, Herb Kim.

Mr Kim explained that when technologies become more powerful they actual drive a greater need for people to meet face-to-face to discuss their function.

"This is a rare chance to look across borders, boxes and walls in order to stimulate new thinking, insights and connections," he said.

Environmentalists have claimed that conferences are bad news for the environment as they require delegates and visitors to travel to the venue, creating increased emissions.
