Apple is talking to major record labels to offer buyers of its iPods and iPhones unlimited music, it has been reported.

The deal would give them access to any of the companies' tracks made available on iTunes.

Major labels have signed up to similar deals - Sony BMG will offer its music via We7, an ad supported site later this year.

Mobile company Nokia launched 'Comes with Music' in December. It gave handset owners 12 months' unlimited access to music from the Universal record label.

Mobile handsets have quickly evolved to include media players, cameras and web browsers and are an example of 'convergence' within the portable communications industry.

Steve Jobs, Apple chief executive officer said: "iPhone is a revolutionary and magical product that is literally five years ahead of any other mobile phone."

However, analysts have questioned whether the company will reach its sales targets of ten million this year.
