Web 'needs better' adult content

The internet needs more content tailored towards adults, according to new research.
A web-usage survey of more than 13,000 people revealed the majority of users aged over 45 felt content, design and advertising were skewed towards users that are more youthful.
Jarvis Coffin, chief executive officer of Burst Media, which conducted the survey said: "Clearly there is an opportunity for talented web publishers to develop engaging content that resonates with older web audience."
It was not just older users who had seen the problem - 76 per cent of 18-24 year olds and 73.9 per cent of 25-34 year olds agreed that content is biased towards younger users.
Research from eMarketer suggests that seven in ten Britons will have access to the internet by 2012, making it important that websites are designed for all ages.
"A major audience segment, such as adults over 45, should not be crying out for content," said Mr Coffin.
