Simplicity the key to Google's success

The simplicity of search engine Google is what sets it apart from its competitors and what has helped propel it to the top of the pile.

That is the analysis of Jack Wallington of the Internet Advertising Bureau, who says that the ease of the interface and the lack of complications for users makes it an appealing tool.

"What differentiates Google from any other website is their core product is very simple to use," he explained.

"They probably have the most basic homepage on the internet, with literally just a search box and a couple of links on it, and that simplicity is key. Anybody on the world could go on there and it's obvious what you have to do, so there's a huge audience."

Google has been named as the top brand in the UK by Superbrands and dominates the search engine market.

The internet giant has also consolidated place in the market by diversifying into a dizzying array of new arenas, creating products such as Google Earth and Google Maps, as well as making major acquisitions such as YouTube and, more recently, DoubleClick.ADNFCR-1093-ID-18511387-ADNFCR
