The BBC has launched BBCGreen.com to help people change their impact on the environment.
The site is designed to offer simple and practical advice as well as editorial features based on expert opinion.
"A large proportion of the UK population want to be green but are confused and not sure where to start," claimed Will Watt, site publisher.
"Our aim is to give them the best possible start with day-to-day advice that makes a greener lifestyle manageable, practical and affordable."
The site is funded by advertising and it will be managed in-house and adhere to BBC Worldwide's existing advertising guidelines.
"We don't campaign on green issues, we simply want to help and inspire with easy to follow advice," Mr Watt added.
BBC Worldwide is the first sector of the corporation to embrace advertising. It allows messages to appear on some of its pages, which are only visible to users outside of the UK.
