World first unites web pioneers
Web Design
11 March 2008
The world's first large-scale, on-line- only internet conference will run in October and bring together the internet's movers and programmers.
Singularity O8 will integrate new technology to join more than 1,000 of the world's top web designers.
Celebrated programmer, Aral Balkan will launch the event from Brighton. He told the Evening Argus: "We have already done smaller scale, one-day conferences so we know the technology we have now makes this possible."
"There will be a range of topics and speakers covering an eclectic range of subjects. I imagine the audience will be developers, designers and other creatives, along with people who specialise in the business side of things."
Its emphasis will be on flexibility and openness and the event will feature networking tools and streamed content that can be accessed at any time.
Traditional conferences have been criticised because delegates who travel to them have created large carbon footprints.
