Researchers have revealed which web widgets ranked on the worldwide widget matrix.
Widgets from MySpace.com were most popular (57 million), followed by those created by Slide.com (39.2 million) and Clearspring.com (39.1million).
Data released by comScore has confirmed the penetration of 'Widgets' into social networking sites - in November 2007, they were viewed by nearly 148 million internet users.
The analyst's have created a Facebook ranking chart which assessed when members of the site engaged with a Widget, rather than just observed it.
It revealed that more than 20 million people, 61 per cent of the site's visitors, have engaged with a Widget and the most popular was 'Top Friends'.
Companies as large as Twentieth Century Fox are using the tools to display messages. Executive vice president of comScore, Linda Boland Abraham, said "the widget space is rapidly evolving" and she would be following their development closely.
