Madeline Moon, the MP for Bridgend, has urged troubled teenagers to seek professional help rather than visit social networks for advice, Times Online has reported.

Her appeal followed the seventh suicide of a young person in her area and reports the youths were linked by a pact.

She explained that there is a problem of teenage suicide in her region, which is leaving other young people "with a huge range of emotions of grief and loss for the first time".

Ms Moon was worried because "they are going online and discussing these issues with friends and virtual friends who are not in the best position to advise them".

"Youngsters need to be given guidance on these matters from professional organisations," she said.

She told the Times Online "that social networking sites were unhealthy for many young people", and " when you start entering a virtual world, as these young people are doing on this Bebo site, you lose the reality of loss".

Bebo has followed other similar sites and recently launched mobile applications of their social network.ADNFCR-1093-ID-18438982-ADNFCR
