UK govt calls web to war
Web 2.0

The UK government has asked the internet industry to join its fight against Islamic extremism.
Home Secretary, Jacqui Smith told a security conference she wanted web companies to help as they do when fighting sex crimes against children.
She likened the proposal to action they took to stop grooming in social networking sites and warned: "The internet is not a no-go area for government."
"Where there is illegal material on the net, I want it removed," she said.
Speaking later to BBC News 24, she explained the government would look at "how you can filter out content, how you can work with internet service providers, how you can work internationally to get illegal stuff off the internet".
Attempts to police the web are often met with stiff opposition. The internet provides a platform for freedom of expression, something that has to be tempered with laws that protect against incitement and discrimination.
