Google is getting bigger and handles nearly seven in ten search requests, according to website analysts compete.
The site recorded its share of the US search market and compared it to five other leading search engines.
Google's share of the market rose 0.2 per cent from November to December last year and reached 8.2 billion requests – Yahoo! had 17 per cent of the market and MSN/Live 9.1 per cent.
Jeremy Crane, who compiled the results in his blog for compete, noticed a substantial increase in searches in November and weaker results for second place Yahoo!
"Unfortunately for Yahoo! the continued slide, albeit small, pushed them to a new low for market share."
One reason for Google's success is its ability to quickly diversify and introduce new products - Google schools has recently launched with a collection of reference materials and educational games.
