Last year's best websites have been celebrated in the .net 2007 awards.
Social network, Google Earth won the best innovation of the year, Facebook won the best socially powered site and Apple was awarded the best re-design prize.
Goggle Earth's development was described by the panel of judges as "nothing short of revolutionary".
Amit Sood, EMEA product marketing manager told .net: "We’ve seen some really amazing examples of Google Earth technology being used to help people during disasters such as the forest fires in Southern California."
Facebook came top in the social category and beat rival MySpace because it allowed a greater freedom for developers to expand its applications.
Apple's site redesign came in for lavish praise from one industry expert who said "the site has the same quality look and feel that the Apple products clearly have".
Last year also heralded the opening of China's first clinic to treat internet addiction and an increase in online fraud.
