Yahoo's top sites of 2007

Web 2.0, Search Engines

18 December 2007

Yahoo! Search has announced its Finds of the Year campaign and is encouraging its users to vote for a winner.

The public will get to vote for the People's Choice Award, which will be announced on January 16th. The other sites are in eight categories and will be voted on by a panel of experts.

Categories included in the competition are Weird and Wonderful, Innovative, Educational and Social. The industry experts' list is comprised of journalists from across the media and last year's winner, Cowforce.com.

The diverse range of sites include shadowcs, an interactive website about crime, mychumms, an online social network for baby-boomers, and artflock, an online creative community.

Most internet searches are conducted in Asia, according to comScore. The company recently found that China's Baidu search engine was the third most popular in the world.

Bob Ivins, executive vice president, said: "Seeing Asian search engines like China's Baidu.com and Korea's NHN ranked alongside Google and Yahoo! underscores the fact that search has become a truly global phenomenon."
