Web 2.0

Microsoft has launched Office Live Workspace in response to a new range of web-based applications.

The service is still in beta but it is available for testing and has two elements: Office Live Workspace and Office Live Small Business.

Users of both can upload documents and each time they make changes on their computers the service will update a 'live' document. People can access the files from any internet connection and the service is designed to help collaborative working.

Kirk Gregersen, Office director, said it had been developed to reflect a change in working patterns, because "work life and home life are increasingly blurring for many people".

"Office Live Workspace addresses growing demand among our customers for on-the-go access to projects and the ability to collaborate with others regardless of where they live or work," he said.

In the UK, almost nine out of ten connections to the internet are now via broadband.
