'Misleading' or Li-Fi?

The BBC has admitted a recent documentary about the dangers of Wi-Fi was misleading, TechDigest has reported.

The programme looked at whether Wi-Fi in schools and urban centres posed a risk to public health and received several complaints, two from viewers who thought the show "gave an unbalanced impression of the state of scientific opinion on the issue".

The broadcaster's Editorial Complaints Unit ruled the program only featured one scientist who disagreed with the prominent view that Wi-Fi was dangerous.

"This gave a misleading impression of the state of scientific opinion on the issue," the BBC said.

The executive editor/commissioning editor for TV Current Affairs has discussed the unit's findings and the need to reflect scientific views effectively with the Panorama team.

Wi-Fi zones have been established all across UK giving people access to internet services on the move. However, users have been warned to take all possible security precautions when joining an open net.
